Mission of Role:

The engineering team requires an additional Senior Fullstack Engineer to help bring CareAcademy engineering into a more modern, fullstack, way of working. 

This role requires expert technical, leadership, and cross-team collaboration abilities to lead the engineering team to strong delivery outcomes. Below is more information about the description:

CareAcademy is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to build web-based applications that are the core of our company—a SaaS platform and learning management system that empowers caregivers to deliver extraordinary care. You will join a strong and passionate remote team of engineers. We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer who will help us shape the growth of our software product and technology platform. Senior Engineers at CareAcademy are the technical leads for delivering roadmap initiatives and features. They lead and guide others to make good architecture decisions. This role will help foster a culture of excellence within the team by creating a psychologically safe environment that encourages innovation and maintains accountability to our customers in every release.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional partners to build product and features that deliver customer and business value.
  • Work across the stack using Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, Typescript, REST APIs, and Postgres in your daily work. Own your software and infrastructure from design to production.
  • Partner with other senior engineers and leaders to shape and guide the technical direction for CareAcademy.
  • Architect, refactor, and improve our software using well-accepted design patterns in order to facilitate the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable product for customers.
  • Employ clear and collaborative communication to understand and define requirements and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Deliver high quality and maintainable software through writing quality code & tests, performing code reviews & QA, documentation, and implementing monitoring.
  • Mentor and support other engineers in improving their skills and practices.
  • Be part of a team striving for continuous improvement in development best practices, quality, and process.

Education, Experience, & Hard Skills:

  • Multiple years of hands-on software engineering experience, including architecture and mentoring software engineers.
  • Expertise in developing sophisticated and polished consumer-facing web apps. 
  • Multiple years experience with front-end Typescript, Vue.js, and developing and maintaining the front-end of web applications. 
  • Multiple years experience and a passion for working across the fullstack of web applications, including the back-end of applications, databases, and building APIs. Bonus points if you have Ruby on Rails experience. 
  • A track record of leading feature development and identifying and removing roadblocks and unknowns that prevent progress.
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with colleagues from across the company with the ability to translate business and product goals into technical requirements and architecture.
  • A knack for bringing structure to ambiguity and the decision-making skills and flexibility to address changing needs quickly and unblock yourself and others.
  • Eagerness to explore, refactor, and improve legacy code.
  • A team-oriented mindset, who is receptive to feedback and skilled in constructive idea exchange.
  • An innate drive to stay current on technology trends and continuously improve team and company performance by incorporating modern engineering and tech best practices.
  • Knowledge about agile methodologies, iterative product software development, CI/CD, and writing unit and end-to-end tests to ship high-quality software.
  • A strong sense of personal accountability and ownership for meeting commitments.
